Grid-tie systems are most popular for homes that are existing utility customers. The home remains connected to the grid, with solar energy production added. In a grid tie system, the building uses the energy produced first, and then the excess power is exported on to the Utility's grid. Even if the system is not large enough to meet 100% of the energy requirements, Grid-tied is an excellent choice to offset part of your electricity bill and carbon footprint.
