Hybrid solar systems

A hybrid solar system combines grid-tied and battery storage, offering the best of both worlds—reliability, cost savings, and energy independence. It allows homeowners to store excess solar power for use during outages or peak pricing times while remaining connected to the grid for backup when needed. 

How hybrid systems work

  1. Solar Panels Generate Power – Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity (DC power).
  2. Inverter Converts DC to AC – The inverter changes DC power into AC power for home or business use.
  3. Power Distribution – Electricity is used in real-time for appliances and devices.
  4. Battery Storage – Excess solar energy is stored in batteries for later use (e.g., at night or during outages).
  5. Grid Connection – If solar and battery power are insufficient, the system draws from the grid. If excess power is available, it can be sent back to the grid (depending on net metering policies).
  6. Smart Energy Management – Some systems use smart inverters or energy management software to optimize energy flow between solar, battery, and grid sources.
